The Benefits of Plush Toys

Do dogs really need them?

1. NEW BEGINNINGS

Separation from their mother and littermates can be hard for a puppy, and plush toys can provide them a great sense of comfort.

Maybe it's a plush toy that has their mother's scent, or maybe it's a brand new one from their forever home - no matter the plush toy, they can provide the sense of company especially by giving them a snuggle and sharing some cosy warmth!

2. YOUNG & FREE

Teething hurts, and puppies like to take this frustration out on table legs, door frames or even your beloved Balenciagas!

Plush toys give your pup a gentle outlet to soothe their sore gums, and satisfy their fun for chewing with a good ol' squeak or two!

3. NERVES & ANXIETY

For those pups that have a natural tendency to feel anxious, nervous or maybe even fearful of certain situations - a familiar chew and squeak of a plush toy can help relieve their tensions!

For example, if your dog is nervous on a walk or in the vets, spending some time there to chew on their plush toy (for example, Cody the Caterpillar) can help them feel more comfortable with their surroundings!

4. OLDIES BUT GOLDIES

One reason to allow your pup to play with plush toys is to relieve gum and toothache.

As they get older, they are more likely to experience weaker teeth and wearing gums, so chewing on soft plush toys allows your dog to prevent hurting their teeth and gums but still gain the satisfaction of a nice relaxed chew.

5. GRIEVING A LOSS

Sometimes when you have more than one dog, the remaining pup can feel lonely when the other passes.

A plush toy can provide that reassuring comfort, especially one that was shared between them, so that the loss doesn't have to feel so sudden.

A new plush toy can also help to give the remaining pup a new 'job' - they can get straight to work on giving it a snuggle, having a squeaky chew or carrying it around their favourite park!

COME TO YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS

What do you think are the benefits of giving plush toys to your dog?

The love dogs have for their plush toys prove how beneficial they are to their mental wellbeing, but also shows how creative they can be with their idea of fun! Cuddling, carrying, destroying - no matter what the activity, plush toys are the real go-to, especially in this house!
